Causes of Teeth Discoloration and Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening products wouldn’t be given birth if teeth discoloration wouldn’t occur on consumers. It just so happen that teeth discoloration appears to the majority. There are various reasons why teeth discoloration happens in us. It could either happen “naturally” or because of our bad habits.

It is not surprising how teeth discoloration happens to smokers. The tar on each stick could ruin the enamel on the teeth making the teeth appears discolored. Once the enamel is ruined, the tooth’s dentin will be revealed. Usually, a smoker’s dentin looks greyish, thus, the teeth’ appearance would look discolored.

The foods we eat daily also have certain components that can give us teeth discoloration. That addicting latte or espresso could be left residue on your teeth that can cause teeth discoloration. Your favorite soda may do the same, even your tea.  As we age, the enamel on our teeth erodes. This is because we have to use our teeth for chewing foods.  As said, when the enamel is eroded, it’ll show the tooth’s dentin. Commonly, dentin looks yellowish. When this layer is exposed, your teeth will look discolored too.

Teeth discoloration is no big deal these days. The solution can be found in every corner of the market. There are a wide variety of teeth whitening products in dental care stores and they are way too easy to use.

The easiest and quickest way to whiten your teeth is through so-called laser teeth bleaching. The method will not take more than two hours and it takes only a session of treatment to see the result.

You would be amazed to see your teeth whiten almost by instance.

Then there are these DIY teeth whitening products. They can be found in dental care stores or over the counter. No need for a dentist’s prescription when you buy such products. Commonly, these are those products that you see on television ads.

It may take some time for you to see the positive result when you do DIY teeth bleaching treatment. The least could be two weeks but this may depend on your teeth condition. If you have severely damaged teeth, you may want to use products that have a high concentration of teeth whitening agents for more effective teeth whitening. There would be instructions stated on each product’s label of how to use the product so no worries about how to deal with it.

You may also visit a dentist. Usually, the dentist would prescribe teeth bleaching trays to their patients. This tray looks identical to a mouthpiece, yet it is comically shaped. This tray is placed on your mouth for a certain amount of time. The tray has a bleaching gel that will do the whitening process. The usual time limit for dental tray treatment is 15 minutes, but this may depend on the concentration of the gel on the product. You might want to stay inside your home when using your teeth whitening tray so that others won’t make fun of you.
